Contain your enthusiasm guys!
My blogging buddy ... Biker Betty is responsible for my inspiration today. I popped over to her site this morning and found some great pics and story of her and Bill's ride on Sunday. With the sun coming up ... she gets this shot of Pikes Peak. Nice. Makes me want to bundle up and head down the road today ... after work. We try and knock off around 4:30 in the afternoon. It gives me time to feed the horses and still gives us about 45 minutes to an hour of ride time. It's therapy, I know. Even in the cold. I put up with cold toes and thighs (BTW, thighs? why do they get so cold?) in order to think about the spring coming ... and not taking 15 minutes to get your gear on to ride.
I know ... gripe, gripe, gripe. Thanks Betty and Bill.

Jesse gets nasty fine from the California emmission cops. This for building bikes from 98 to 05 without all the emissions stuff that is required by CA. 271,000 plus change for their charge of pumping out 10 times the legal limit of pollutants. Here is Jesse at a book signing for his new book ... I am Jesse James.

I went back and realized that I never put up a pic of the Valk. We took this picture out by the lake a few weeks ago. It was in the 60's and kind of a nice day. That's also the jacket I bought in Mexico on Christmas Vacation. I absolutely love it ... it is warm ... has a zip out liner ... and a neck wrap sewn into the jacket. I talked the guy down from $300 to $100 ... then I came home and found them online at a closeout place for $75. Oi vey.
I'm convinced I have Seasonal Affective Disorder. SAD for short. It's basically a depression of sorts brought on by the shorter days of fall and winter. The typical symptoms of SAD include depression, lack of energy, increased need for sleep, a craving for sweets and weight gain. Symptoms begin in the fall, peak in the winter and usually resolve in the spring.
You can read more about it here. That is if you are inclined to be depressed. Of course it does not help matters that I have a stupid picture of my friend in Florida on his Goldwing as my wallpaper on my computer. Knowing all to well that he is riding ... this makes my depression worse.

In our day of high tech gadgets and gizmos ... now can have our cake and eat it too. Donuts with a buzz. A scientist, that obviously has way too much time on his hands, has developed a donut that has caffeine. The equivalent of two cups of coffee in each heavenly circular pastry. I wonder how donut holes calculate out? Since I can pop those down pretty fast. What will they think of next? Here's the whole (no pun intended) story. Ok .. yes I did intend it.

Just when you thought the X-Games had done it all ... wham-O ... a new winter sport. Flipping Snowmobiles.
"It basically is a small car," said Chris Burandt, one of the world's best all-around snowmobilers. "After you see somebody do it, it's all mental because obviously it can be done, so it's just the big mental hurdle of getting over it and telling yourself that you can do it and then being able to actually go out an execute it."
Yeah ... it's all MENTAL. Mentally INSANE. What I want to know is ... who was the FIRST brave soul to do it so that others could follow. I think I still remember the first big jump I did on my Honda 100 ... it's was all I could do to twist the throttle and go UP the jump ... not really knowing what I would do once I was in the air. Yes he's a bike designer and ex-Harley engineer. Yes he makes really cool sport touring bikes. But did you know he's a rocker and guitar designer? Erik Buell is one creative guy and loves to live life! Pictured above is "the" guitar that he made for Mike Stone (of Queensryche). Not only did Buell give us a revolutionary motorcycle ... he now puts his mark on music and guitars. As stated many times on my blog ... I really like creative people. Some people spend a lifetime doing just one thing ... hey, that's ok if that makes you happy. But, when I read stories like this it makes me reach even further into what I can do. Buell's band, the Thunderbolts, tour a lot near where they live and sound like they have a pretty good time doing it. LA times reported this story on Erik. Here's a little more history of Erik Buell. Pictured above is a NICE BMW tourer that washed up on the beach near Sidmouth England. Seems a ship had lost some of it's cargo and locals where collecting the spoils. The police look on as this beachcomber gets a great find. And to think ... I just look for shells. The ship, the MSC Napoli, also lost car parts and very hazardous materials. Here's the story.
