Well, I told you that I would start with the motorcycle 'only' stuff on this blog again ... and by george ... I did. The first rattle out of the back is this. Honda is taking their Goldwing and VTX production out of Ohio ... busting a lot of people out of work. That's really not what I wanted to hear ... since I just bought a wing ... not too many months ago.
The news just hit the wire yesterday. Not only will production workers lose their jobs ... but people in the Ohio area who produce specific products for the Goldwings and VTX will also take a huge hit.
Bad deal, Honda.
News here.
Ya... Hard to believe. I just posted about this too over at TheBikerWeb's Biker Blog (linked in my name line for this comment). Kinda hits close to home too -- I'm from Western PA, and had taken a ride out that the plant some years ago just to see it (I owned a Honda Shadow at the time, and my bud who I rode with had a Magna).
:-(
Honda "claims" that the Marysville plant workers won't be fired though...which, if they follow through with it, is better than the alternative. But it still sucks big ones...
